Follow steps to set up email authentication for your organization to help protect your organization from spoofing, and prevent outgoing messages from being sent to spam. (8:06)

Set up email authentication

Set up authentication: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC

 What are SPF and DKIM?

SPF lets you authorize senders that are allowed to send email on behalf of your domain. DKIM signs every outgoing message with your unique signature, so receiving servers can verify the message came from you. SPF and DKIM let receiving servers verify that messages that appear to be from your domain are legitimate. These authentication methods also help prevent your messages from being marked as spam. (1:13)

What are SPF and DKIM?

What is DMARC?

(need to update - wrong text from video) SPF and DKIM help prevent spammers from impersonating your organization, and help ensure messages sent from your organization aren't marked as spam. (0:37)

What is DMARC?

 Using SPF, DKIM and DMARC

When you use SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, receiving servers can verify that email senders are authorized by you and that the senders are being transparent about message identity. (0:48)

Using SPF, DKIM and DMARC

Before your start: Check your current SPF and DKIM

Before you set up email authentication, you can use the Google Admin Toolbox to check if SPF and DKIM already been set up. (1:27)

Before your start: Check your current SPF and DKIM

 Set up SPF

Set up SPF by adding a DNS TXT record at your domain provider. You can use a standard SPF TXT record for sending email with Google Workspace only. Or, create a custom SPF TXT record when you use third-party senders in addition to Workspace. (2:19)

Set up SPF

Set up DKIM

To set up DKIM, create a DKIM key in your Google Admin console, add the key to the DNS records at your domain provider, then turn on DKIM signing in your Admin console. (3:10)

Set up DKIM

 Set up DMARC

DMARC lets you manage messages that have been checked by SPF and DKIM. You can set your DMARC policy to quarantine or reject messages that don't pass SPF or DKIM. DMARC reports help you identify any issues with your email, such as spoofing or authentication issues. (1:28)
