Applies to editions of Google Workspace and other paid subscriptions in your Google Admin console.
When you sign up for Google Workspace and set up billing, you might need to verify your identity and ownership of the payment method that you used. Depending on your payment method, you can complete verification using a code challenge or by providing certain documents.
Do I need to verify?
If you need to verify your payment information during sign-up, you’ll get a notification after you enter your billing information. You’ll also get an email at the address you provided when you signed up. The email comes from [email protected] with "Verify your payment method" in the subject line. You can verify your identity and payment method using the link in the sign-up flow or email.
Complete a code challenge
For most payment methods, you can complete verification through a code challenge. To complete this process:
- In the sign-up flow or email, click Get code.
- We generate a small temporary charge to your payment method, usually less than $2 USD. The transaction description contains a 6-digit code.
- Check your payment method and copy the code in the description.
- In the sign-up flow or email, enter the code.
After the code verification is successful, you can start using your Google Workspace subscription.
Submit verification documents
If your payment method doesn’t support code verification, you need to verify your payment information by submitting certain documents. You might need to provide a scanned copy or digital image of:
- A government-issued photo ID of the billing account administrator or payment method owner
- The credit card, debit card, or bank statement associated with your billing account
Your personal information is stored securely in your payment profile and treated in accordance with the Google Privacy Policy and the Google Payments Privacy Notice.
Submit your documents
To begin verification, upload a photo or copy of the requested documents:
-
During sign-up—Click Proceed To Verification.
-
From the email—Click Verify now and sign in using the email you provided when you signed up, for example, [email protected].
It's important not to delay submitting your documents. Your 14-day free trial continues during the verification period. For example, if it takes 2 days for you to submit your documents and 2 days for us to review, you’ll have 10 days left in your trial.
After you submit your documents
After we review your information, you get a confirmation email. The email comes from [email protected]. Once you’re approved, you can start using your Google Workspace subscription. Document verification can take up to 48 hours.
