Using Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML), your users can use their Google Cloud credentials to sign in to enterprise-cloud applications.
Set up SSO via SAML for Canva
Here's how to set up single sign-on (SSO) via SAML for the Canva application.
Before you beginFollow these setup steps in Canva before starting setup in your Google Admin console. For more information, see Canva's Setting up Single Sign-on article.
Verify that SSO is enabled
- Sign in to https://canva.com with your organization's Canva administrator account.
- Click Account settings at top.
- Check if you have the SSO & provisioning tab.
If you have the tab, continue with Verify your domain, below. If you don't have the tab, continue with steps 4-5.
- Submit a request via the Canva Support form.
- Under Issue category, select Account settings.
- Under Issue, select I want to set up single sign-on (SSO).
- On the description field, provide your Canva team name and Identity Provider.
- Canva will update you by email when your request is approved.
Verify your domain
- In your Canva account settings, go to the SSO & provisioning tab.
- Under Domain verification, enter your team's domain.
- Click Submit domain.
- Copy the generated TXT record token.
- At your DNS host, create a TXT record with the Canva TXT record token.

Sign in to your Google Admin console.
Sign in using an account with super administrator privileges (does not end in @gmail.com).

In the Admin console, go to Menu AppsWeb and mobile apps.

Click Add appSearch for apps.
- Enter Canva in the search field.
- In the search results, hover over the Canva SAML app and click Select.
- On the Google Identity Provider details page:
- Copy and save the SSO URL and Entity ID
- Download the Certificate.
Leave the Admin console open, you'll continue with the configuration wizard after performing the next step in Canva.
- In a new incognito browser window, sign in to https://canva.com with your organization's Canva administrator account.
- Click Account settings .
- From the side menu, click the SSO & provisioning tab.
- Under SAML, paste the information you copied from Google:
- SAML 2.0 Endpoint (HTTP): SSO URL.
- Identity Provider Issuer: Entity ID.
- Public Certificate: the contents from your Certificate.
- Click Save changes.
- Return to the Admin console browser window.
- Click Continue.
- On the Service provider details page, keep the default values and click Continue.
- On the Attribute mapping page, click the Select field menu and map the following Google directory attributes to their corresponding Canva attributes:
Google directory attribute Canva attribute Basic Information > Primary Email email Basic Information > First name firstName Basic Information > Last name lastName Note: Canva does not support Group membership mapping.
- Click Finish.

In the Admin console, go to Menu AppsWeb and mobile apps.
- Select Canva.

Click User access.

To turn a service on or off for everyone in your organization, click On for everyone or Off for everyone, and then click Save.

(Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:
- At the left, select the organizational unit.
- To change the Service status, select On or Off.
- Choose one:
- If the Service status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
- If the Service status is set to Overridden, either click Inherit to revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Save to keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.

To turn on a service for a set of users across or within organizational units, select an access group. For details, go to Use groups to customize service access.
- Ensure that your Canva user account email IDs match with those in your Google domain.
Canva supports both Identity Provider (IdP) initiated and Service Provider (SP) initiated SSO. Follow these steps to verify SSO in either mode:
IdP-initiated

Sign in to your Google Admin console.

In the Admin console, go to Menu AppsWeb and mobile apps.
- Select Canva.
- At the top left, click Test SAML login.
Canva should open in a separate tab. If it doesn’t, use the information in the resulting SAML error messages to update your IdP and SP settings as needed, then retest SAML login.
SP-initiated
- Close all browser windows.
- Open https://canva.com.
- Click Login.
- On the login page, choose Continue with email.
- Enter your email address, then click Continue with single sign-on.
You should be automatically redirected to the Google sign-in page.
- Enter your username and password.
- After your sign-in credentials are authenticated, you're redirected back to Canva.
