Turn automatically-generated captions for videos in Drive on or off

As a Google Workspace administrator, you can control who can add automatically-generated captions to videos in Drive. You can also choose if video captions are automatically generated when videos are uploaded.

Automatically-generated captions make it easier for your organization to caption more videos, increasing their accessibility. But you might not want videos automatically captioned on upload if they contain sensitive information. You can turn that feature off for organizational units with users who handle that content. If you choose to not to turn on any automatically-generated captions, users can still manually add caption files to videos.

Before you begin: If needed, learn how to apply the setting to a department or group.
