View or export a group's members

If Google Groups isn't available in your work or school account, ask your administrator to turn on Groups for Business.

Group members with the correct permissions can see who else is in the group or export a list of members.

View a group’s members

Requires the Who can view members permission.

You can view group members in Google Groups, Gmail, and calendar invitations.

Google Groups

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click the name of a group.
  3. On the left, click Members.
  4. To view people who have been banned from the group, on the left, click Banned users.

Gmail

You can see group member information in messages you send to or receive from that group in Gmail.

  1. In Gmail, open the message.
  2. In the To or From field, point to the group name.
    A few group members appear.
  3. To see all the group members, click + X more.

Calendar invitations

In calendar invitations sent to a group, the group’s members list:

  • Appears only after you save or send the invitation
  • Is visible to invitees who have the Who can view members permission, if the group has fewer than 200 guests

Export a list of group members

Requires the Who can manage members permission.

Viewing email addresses in the exported file requires the Who can view member email addresses permission.

You can download a file with a list of your group members and their email addresses to a CSV (comma-separated values) file. You can open the list in a spreadsheet to manage group membership, count members, or organize smaller groups within your group.

Note: For groups with more than 5,000 members, export the list of names using this script.

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click the name of a group.
  3. On the left, click Members.
  4. Above the list, click Export list .
