Your experience with TalkBack 15.1 is improved with:
- Easily opened links inside apps that don't use webviews.
- The new reading controls that customise your web browsing experience.
- The screen search in reading controls that can find items on your screen more easily.
- Various bug fixes and enhancements.
Opening links
With TalkBack 15.1, you can open links by double-tapping them, both inside and outside of web view content. You no longer need to use the TalkBack menu to open links.
- If the content has multiple links, double-tap to select the link that you want to open.
- In the Messages app, accessibility actions are added to links to make them easier to discover and open. To open a desired link, swipe down with one finger, then double-tap.
More customisation options for reading controls
You can now add more specific controls to your TalkBack menu and reading controls. To customise your preferences:
- Tap with three fingers to open the TalkBack menu.
- Tap TalkBack settings.
- Under the 'Controls heading', tap Customise menus.
- To customise the reading controls, under 'Navigation', select Customise menu or Customise reading controls.
- You can add the following newly added reading controls:
- Buttons
- Tick boxes
- Edit fields
- Focusable items
- Heading 1
- Heading 2
- Heading 3
- Heading 4
- Heading 5
- Heading 6
- Images and videos
- Lists
- List items
- Tables
- Combo boxes
- Visited links
Tip: These reading controls work only on the web while you browse.
Add screen search to reading controls
To simplify how you jump to the next or previous results of your text search, you can add screen search to your reading controls. To use this feature:
- To start a screen search, touch and hold the screen with three fingers, or select Screen search from the TalkBack menu.
- Once you've searched for an item, you can:
- Switch into screen search when you swipe left or right with three fingers.
- Swipe down to jump to the next occurrence of what you searched for.
- Swipe up to jump to the previous occurrence of what you searched for.
