Use a text cursor to navigate and select text

You can navigate web pages, select text and click links with your keyboard instead of your mouse. This setting is called caret browsing.

Turn on caret browsing

  1. On your computer, open Chrome Chrome.
  2. Select More Organise and then Settings.
  3. At the bottom left, click Accessibility.
  4. Turn on Navigate pages with a text cursor.
Tip: You can also turn on Caret Browsing with the keyboard shortcut F7.
  • On Chromebook, the keyboard shortcut is Ctrl + F7.
    • For Chromebook's built-in keyboard: To use F7, you can either press Search + the eighth key, including the ESC in the top row or press Launcher  + the eighth key in the top row.
    •  For external keyboards: Press the key with an F7 sign.
