Why are we updating Private Auctions?
Early Q1 2025, we’ll migrate Private Auctions to a new user interface, allowing us to add new features such as an external API for Private Auctions and also allowing a single Private Auction to contain both web and app inventory.
More details on these changes will be shared closer to January 2025.
What’s changing
The following Private Auction features will be phased out:
- Creative restrictions
- Inventory URL targeting
- Estimated impressions per day
- The "Games" inventory type
Timeline of changes
Starting on September 1, 2024, we began phasing out the features mentioned above.
While your existing Private Auctions will continue to serve, after September 1, you will not be able to create any new Private Auctions using these features.
On January 15, 2025:
- Existing Private Auctions with legacy features will cease to function. To continue using these Private Auctions, update their settings and remove any deprecated settings before this deadline.
- Additionally, any Private Auctions created before January 1, 2024, without any spend since January 1, 2024 will be discontinued at this time.
All other Private Auction deals will not be impacted and no action is required of you.
How to modify Private Auctions with deprecated features
- Click Sales, then Private Auctions, and then Deals. Private Auctions requiring attention are labeled as such, making them easy for you to identify.
- Select the Private Auction and update the settings to remove features which are being deprecated. The following table shows which features will be deprecated with recommended corrective measures.
Setting/feature | Action |
---|---|
Creative restrictions | Remove creative restrictions from the Private Auction. |
Inventory URL targeting | Remove the inventory URL targeting. Note that this will change the inventory targeted by the Private Auction. If the intention is to target the same set of inventory, publishers should add more targeting such as AdUnit, KeyValue, Custom Targeting, and so forth, to reach the same coverage. |
Support of "game" type inventory | Create as a video-type Private Auction. |
