Data collection controls help you better manage the data you share with Google and the bidding ad sources included as part of the AdMob Network. With the new data collection controls, you can choose how these bidding ad sources collect data from your apps.
How it works
You can turn on or off data collection for Google (Google Ads, Display & Video 360) and the ad sources included as part of the AdMob Network including Google Ads and Display & Video 360.
When you allow data collection for a select ad source, that ad source can build user lists and profiles based on data from your traffic. Bidding ad sources can use the information to better value your inventory.
When you do not allow data collection for a select ad source, that ad source is not allowed to build user lists and profiles based on data from your traffic.
Update your data collection setting
By default, the data collection setting is set to Allow for Google (Google Ads, Display & Video 360) and the bidding ad sources included as part of the AdMob Network. To change the data collection for a select bidding ad source:
- Sign in to your AdMob account at https://admob.google.com.
- Click Mediation in the sidebar.
- Click the Bidding sources tab.
- Select the ad source you'd like to update.
- Click the toggle next to data collection to allow or not allow for a select bidding ad source.
What happens when you turn off data collection
- The ad source is not allowed to build user lists and profiles based on data from your traffic.
- This might decrease the number of ads competing to appear on your app, which may decrease your potential earnings.
You can’t opt out of showing ads to users based on their previous interactions with the advertiser, such as visits to an advertiser's website, known as remarketing.
About historical data
Bidding sources may have data in their systems from ads shown in the past. This control does not ask bidding sources to delete historical data.
