Using Privacy & messaging, you can create and display an ads personalisation controls message to your users that provides them with controls to opt out of ads personalisation. User preferences will be passed to Google’s sell side ad platforms and enforced in ad serving across Google Demand and third-party buyers.
Ads personalisation controls messages won't be shown when you're already using an IAB-certified CMP to show messages in areas affected by privacy legislation (such as GDPR or CPRA). This means that any privacy regulation messages that you’ve created, such as European regulations messages or US state regulations messages, will supersede ads personalisation controls messages.
Structure of a message
An ads personalisation controls message contains a single 'screen' (or 'page') that is shown to users when they view your message.
Ads personalisation controls messages include the following elements:
Settings page: The settings page of your ads personalisation controls message. Displays the 'Control the ads you see in this app' dialogue. Users who see the message will select an option and click 'Save' to confirm their decision.
- Logo (recommended): Your app's logo. To include a logo here, add a logo to your app.
- User choices: The ads personalisation controls included in the message for users to select from.
- 'Personalise my ads' option: Allows users to opt in to ads that are personalised using activity in your app.
- 'Don’t personalise my ads' option: Allows users to opt out of ads that are personalised using activity in your app.
