The high-engagement ads setting gives you more control over your ad experiences, so you can fine-tune the ad strategy for your apps. This app-level setting activates high-performing ads that boost user engagement and improve overall ad performance. For example, turning on this setting will allow Google Ads and other buyers under the AdMob Network to show:
- Interstitial ads skippable no later than 12 seconds
- Rewarded ads skippable no later than 60 seconds. Reward will be granted once skip time is reached.
- Interstitial and rewarded ads with up to three steps to exit
This high-engagement ads setting does not apply to partner bidding ad units.

Enable high-engagement ads for for apps
Complete the following steps to turn high-engagement ads on or off in an app.
High-engagement ads for apps are applied across all interstitial and rewarded ad units in an app. They do not apply to native or banner ad units.
- Sign in to your AdMob account at https://admob.google.com.
- Click Apps in the sidebar.
- Select the name of your app. If you can't find it in the list of recent apps, you can click View all apps to search a list of all of the apps you've added to AdMob.
- Click App settings in the sidebar.
- Click beside High-engagement ads.
- Turn the "High-engagement ads" switch on or off.
- Click Save.
