You can choose areas where you don't want to show in-page Auto ads across your pages with similar layouts. For example, you might not want to show ads immediately below the header on your pages.
Exclude an area
- Sign in to your AdSense account.
- Click Ads.
- In the table of all your sites, click Edit next to your site.
- Under "Ad settings" click Excluded areas.
- In the ad settings preview, review the ad areas on your page. When you hover over an area it pushes out your content to indicate how an ad might affect your page.
Note: Ad areas show possible places where ads might appear on your site. Auto ads will only place ads in a subset of the areas shown in the preview.
- Select an ad area to exclude in-page ads from showing.
The status of the ad area changes to "Excluded", and the ad area is added to your list of excluded areas.
- Go back to "Ad settings", then click Apply to site.
It can take up to an hour for the new settings to be applied to your site.
Tip: Excluded areas use CSS selectors to define the area to exclude. If these CSS selectors change (e.g., the element IDs change) it can cause the excluded area to stop working. If this happens, try re-adding your exclusion area again.
Restore an excluded area
- Sign in to your AdSense account.
- Click Ads.
- In the table of all your sites, click Edit next to your site.
- Under "Ad settings" click Excluded areas.
- In the ad settings preview, click the excluded area you want to restore. Or, in the list of "Excluded areas", find the excluded area you want to restore and click Restore.
- Click Apply to site.
It can take up to an hour for the new settings to be applied to your site.
