The Google Ads Financial Products and Services verification requirements in the UK has been updated to introduce a new exemption category for government entities.

Starting Sep 6, 2021, advertisers that have not successfully completed the updated verification process will no longer be allowed to show financial services ads of any kind in the UK, including showing ads to UK users who appear to be seeking financial services. Most advertisers that meet the definition of an exempt government entity below will be verified automatically by Google. If you meet this definition but aren’t sure if you have been verified, contact your Google account representative to confirm your verification status and request verification, if needed.

Details of new exemption category:

Exempt government entities: UK government institutions, regulators, or authorities operating with .gov.uk domains, intergovernmental organizations such as the United Nations, central banks of UK and Europe, the UK Advertising Standards Authority, or entities any one of these approves for the purposes of this policy.
