In January 2022, Google will update the Financial products and services policy to clarify the requirements for the advertisement of debt services products targeting the United Kingdom.

Beginning 17 January 2022, advertisers offering debt services targeting the United Kingdom will need to comply with an updated policy in order to be certified, which removes the requirement for debt services providers to be authorised to hold client money. The advertiser and provider of these debt services will still need to be either;

(1) a licensed insolvency practitioner regulated by a Recognised Professional Body or

(2) authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority to carry on debt adjusting and debt counselling.

As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with the local laws for any area that their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these financial products. For more details, see About restricted financial products certification.

Violations of this policy won't lead to immediate account suspension without prior warning. A warning will be issued at least seven days prior to any suspension of your account.
