On November 11, 2024, we will introduce the new “Sexual health & wellness” policy.
This policy will allow the promotion of personal lubricants and prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction and hypoactive sexual desire disorder on the Google Display Network and YouTube, as long as:
- The ads are not promoted in a way that focuses on sexual pleasure or enhancement, or use sexually suggestive elements and themes;
- The ads target users 18 years or older;
- The ads respect the serving and country-specific restrictions of the Healthcare and medicines Google Ads policy (including applying for a healthcare products certification, in order to promote prescription drug terms in the ad or landing page, if applicable)
- The ads comply with local laws in the regions your campaigns target.
Google will allow the promotion of personal lubricants and prescription drugs in select countries only.
- Advertisers may promote personal lubricants in the following countries only: Australia, Brazil, Canada, Germany, Portugal, New Zealand, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States
- Certified pharmaceutical manufacturers and certified advertisers promoting prescription drug services may promote prescription drugs for erectile dysfunction and hypoactive sexual desire disorder in the following countries only: Canada, New Zealand and the United States
Ads that are promoted in violation of these criteria are subject to Google Ads’ Sexual content, Inappropriate content and Healthcare and medicines policies and may continue to be restricted or disapproved.
We will begin enforcing the policy update on November 11, 2024, with full enforcement ramping up over approximately 10 weeks.
Looking ahead
We are committed to fostering a safe and inclusive advertising environment. As part of this commitment, we will continue to evaluate and potentially expand the list of permitted products and countries within the "Sexual health & wellness" policy.
