In January 2025, Google will update the Cryptocurrencies and related products policy to clarify the scope and requirements for the advertisement of cryptocurrency-related business and services.
Beginning 15 January 2025, advertisers offering cryptocurrency exchanges targeting the United Kingdom may advertise those products and services when they meet the following requirements and are certified by Google.
United Kingdom (cryptocurrency exchanges and software wallets)
Google allows ads promoting cryptocurrency exchanges and cryptocurrency wallets targeting the United Kingdom as long as the advertiser is registered with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
United Kingdom (hardware wallets)
Google allows ads promoting hardware wallets that are designed to hold the private keys of cryptocurrencies, NFTs or other crypto-based assets, but do not offer additional services such as purchasing, selling, exchanging or trading assets. Any other local legal requirements must also be complied with.
Advertisers must also be certified with Google.
As a reminder, we expect all advertisers to comply with the local laws for any area that their ads target. This policy will apply globally to all accounts that advertise these financial products. For more details, see About restricted financial products certification.
