Government documents and services: Apply for certification

To run ads for government documents and services, advertisers must be certified by Google. To determine whether you’re impacted by this policy, review our comprehensive list of all categories of government documents and services in scope of the policy.

Note that several categories have regional or business exclusions and if you believe you qualify for one of these policy exclusions, you also need to be certified by Google.
If you have been impacted by this policy and do not promote government documents and services, you can apply for your impacted ads to be excluded from the scope of the policy.

To successfully complete certification for any of the following options under this policy, advertisers must also complete Google’s identity verification program. See Step 2 from the policy for how to complete this program.

I qualify as an authorized, non-government provider.

Authorized providers may run ads that promote direct acquisition of government documents and services. An authorized provider is an advertiser that has been given explicit permission by a government to provide a specific government document or service. To qualify as an authorized provider, your domain must be linked from an official government website and explicitly referenced as authorized by that government to provide a specific government document or service.

I qualify as a government provider.

To be certified, we must confirm that you’re using an official government-owned domain to promote ads for government documents and services. The primary way to confirm that your domain is owned by the government is by using a domain which includes an extension that officially belongs to the government (such as “gov.ie” for the Irish government).

An authorized provider is an advertiser that has been given explicit permission by a government to provide a specific government document or service. To qualify as an authorized provider, your domain must be linked from an official government website and explicitly referenced as authorized by that government to provide a specific government document or service.

This helps users make informed decisions when seeking to obtain official government documents and services from authorized providers.

Providers should work directly with the government they’ve been authorized by to ensure they’re clearly disclosed on an official government website as authorized to provide a specific product or service.
