Create and edit app assets

You can use Google Ads Editor to add and modify app assets at the campaign and ad group levels. App assets showcase your mobile or tablet app by showing a link to your app below your ad.

Before you begin

Before setting up an app asset, make sure you have all these items:

  • A mobile app that's live within Google Play or the Apple App Store
  • The Package Name (Android) or App ID (iOS) for your mobile app
  • The URL of the page within the app store where users can learn more about the app or click to install the app

Create an app asset

App assets are managed in the Shared library. They must be created in the Shared library before they can be added to campaigns and ad groups. To create a new app asset, follow these steps:

  1. Click Shared library under the type list.
  2. Select Shared app assets in the left panel.
  3. Click Add shared app asset, above the data view.
  4. Make sure the new asset is selected in the data view and add the asset information in the edit panel.

Add an app asset to a campaign or ad group

  1. In the account tree, select the campaign or ad group where you want to add the asset.
  2. In the type list, select Ad assets and then App assets.
  3. Above the data view, click Add app asset and select Campaign app asset or Ad group app asset from the drop-down menu.
  4. Choose the asset you want to add from the list.
  5. Click OK.

Edit an app asset

App assets are managed in the Shared library, which means that changing the asset will update all campaigns and ad groups where that asset has been added. To edit an app asset, follow these steps:

  1. Click Shared library under the type list.
  2. Select Shared app assets in the left panel.
  3. Select an asset in the data view.
  4. Edit the asset’s information in the edit panel.

Note

All account-level shared items are shown in the Shared library even if only some campaigns are downloaded. Shared app assets won't show associations for campaigns that haven't been downloaded. Before removing app assets from the Shared app assets view, be sure to check that they aren’t associated with any un-downloaded campaigns.
