How Google Play services can use your microphone
Google Play services may periodically access your microphone to help you with core services, some examples are:
- Let you record audio from your mobile gameplay and save it on your device. The recorded audio gets saved directly to your device and isn't shared with Google.
- Nearby Messages is a user initiated service through supported apps. It allows apps and users to find, communicate, and share data with nearby devices via Nearby Messages. This uses on-device detection, in the background, of near-ultrasonic audio through a user’s microphone to detect nearby devices.
How Google handles your information
In order to enable some features, Google Play Services may collect and send some information to Google which may include crash logs and diagnostics information for analytics purposes. Any information that Google collects is handled in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
