How Google Play services uses your files & media
Google Play services may access your files and media to help you with core services. Some examples are:
To share files with nearby devices
Google Play services may access your files and media when you want to share files via nearby devices using Nearby Share.
Tip: To manage your preferences, on your Android device, open Settings Google Devices & sharing Nearby Share.
To select a picture for your Google Account profile
Google Play services may access your files and media when you preview and select pictures for your Google Account profile.
To access ringtones stored on your external storage
Google Play services may access your ringtones, in the background, when you use ringtones for two-factor authentication or when you use Find My Device.
To make your stored music files searchable
Google Play services may periodically access your music files in the background so that you can search for your music in YouTube Music.
Tip: To manage your preferences, on your Android device, open Settings Google Personalize using shared data External Media. This control is only visible when you have compatible media files on your device.
How Google handles your information
In order to enable some features, Google Play Services may collect and send some information to Google which may include crash logs and diagnostics information for analytics purposes. Any information that Google collects is handled in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.
