You can change the language for an individual app in your device settings.
Change the language setting for a specific app
Important: Apps that are set to follow the system default use the first supported language in the list.
- On your device, open your Settings app.
- Tap System Languages App languages.
- Select the app that you want to change.
- Choose a language.
Tip: You can only change the language for apps that support language selection.
Troubleshoot problems with app language feature
'All languages' lists the languages that a specific app supports. To get the most up-to-date list of supported languages, update your app.
If you change the app setting, but the app language doesn't changeIf you select a language but notice the app language doesn't change, try these fixes:
- Restart the app.
- Make sure that your device has a network connection. If you change your app language when you're not connected to the Internet, the app language may not update.
- Add the language as a secondary language, then try again to switch the app language:
- On your Android device, open your Settings app.
- Tap System Languages and input Languages.
- Add the language as a secondary language.
- After a few minutes, re-open your Settings app.
- Tap System Languages and input App languages.
- Select the app that you want to change.
- Choose the language.
If the language feature still doesn't work, the list of supported languages provided by the app may not be accurate.
Some apps don't support this language feature. Only apps whose developers opt in to this feature will be displayed in the app list.
If an app seems to be stuck in a language that is different from your System languages, you might be able to reset the app if you clear app data. Some apps only let you change the language from within the app or an associated app-specific account.
Set regional preferences
Important: Regional preferences settings are only available on Android 14 and up.
