Verify your mobile phone numbers

When you set up an Android device, you can let Google verify your phone number (or numbers if you have more than one). This helps ensure certain features work, including:

• Emergency location service.
  • If you have a Pixel 9 series phone, when there’s no cell signal or Wi-Fi, you can get help through satellite for emergency services. Learn how to get emergency help through satellite.
• Find your device. Learn how to find or secure a lost device.
• Locking your device remotely if you lose it. Learn how to protect your data against theft.
• Helping people contact you through Rich Communications Services (RCS) messages. Learn more about how RCS works.

After your phone numbers are verified, you can add them to the Google Account on your device so you can:

• Get back into your Google Account if you have sign-in issues.
• Help people contact you through video calls.
• Use Quick Share to send and receive files from devices near you. Learn more about how Quick Share works.
• Help people pay you through Google Pay. This service is available only in India and Singapore.
• Sign in to your Google Account with your phone number.

To make sure the phone numbers are still yours, Google and your carrier will try to periodically reverify them. Carrier charges may apply. If you add new phone numbers to your device, those can be verified as well.

Turn phone number verification on or off

When phone number verification is on, you allow Google and your carrier to periodically verify your phone numbers. You can turn it off anytime.

1. Open your device’s Settings app.
   • Select Google All services.
2. Under “Privacy & security,” select Phone number verification.
3. Select whether to verify your phone number.

Use your verified phone numbers in your Google Account

You can control whether or not to use these verified phone numbers in your Google Account.

On your device, for each Google Account:

1. Go to your Google Account settings.
   1. Open your device’s Settings app.
   2. Select Google.
   3. At the top, select your account Manage your Google Account.
2. At the top, select Personal info.
3. Under "Contact info," select Phone.
4. You can find your device under “Devices eligible for auto-verification.” To manage auto-verification status on your devices:
   • If you want your device to make its verified phone numbers available in your Google Account:
     1. Turn on [Your device name].
     2. Select Yes, I’m in.
   • If you don’t want your device to make its verified phone numbers available in your Google Account:
     1. Turn off [Your device name].
     2. Select Stop verifying.
        • If a number has already been added to your Google Account and you want to remove it, learn how to change the phone numbers on your account.

Tips:

• After you turn on auto-verification on your device, it takes some time for phone numbers to be verified.
