You can discover destinations using Google Maps on Android Auto.
Categories will help you find places close to you, such as gas stations, parking garages, or coffee shops. To view the category options on Android Auto, follow these steps:
- Tap Search or use this icon .
- Tap Categories.
- Select a category to see a list of results.
- Select a result to start navigation.
Report and vote on traffic incidents with your car display
You can report new traffic incidents and vote on existing incidents on Google Maps with your car display. Reports are anonymous and appear on the map where you add them on your route.
Important: You must be signed in to your Google account to have access to the traffic incident report feature.
Note: Not all car displays are compatible with the report traffic incidents feature but may still be able to vote on reports from other drivers. Check with your car manufacturer to learn more.
Drive safely. Pay attention to the road and driving conditions, and always obey applicable laws.
Report traffic incidents
- Open Google Maps on your car’s infotainment screen
- Tap Report
- On the “Add a report” menu, tap the type of incident you want to report
- Crash
- Slowdown
- Mobile speed camera
- Police
- Construction
- Lane closure
- Stalled vehicle
- Object on road
Vote on alerts from other drivers
If another user reports an incident on Google Maps, you’ll find it on the map as you move closer.
When you reach the alert on your map, a prompt will appear to ask if the traffic incident is still there. To let other users know if the report is still there, tap Still there or Not there.
