Android Auto will give you voice-guided navigation, estimated arrival times, live traffic information, lane guidance and more with Google Maps or your favourite navigation app.
Get directions with voice commands- Say 'Hey Google' or select microphone .
- Tell Android Auto where you'd like to go. Some examples of things that you can say are:
- 'Take me home'.
- 'Navigate to [location]'.
- 'Directions to [shop name]'.
- 'Navigate to work'.
- 'Drive to [address]'.
- If multiple locations come up, confirm the one that you want and follow the directions to your destination.
While you use Google Maps to navigate, you can open Settings to adjust your route options, display options and more. While you are parked, you can also adjust these settings in the Google Maps app on your phone.
To stop navigation at any point:

Say 'Hey Google', or tap the microphone .

Say 'Stop navigation' or 'Cancel navigation'.
There are three quick options to select a destination with Google Maps.

Recent will show places that you’ve been to recently and suggestions based on your recent searches on Google Maps.

Categories lets you select from options, such as petrol stations, coffee shops and more.
- Saved locations will display the locations that you have saved to your Google Maps account.
From Android Auto, follow these steps to set a destination with Google Maps:
- Tap Search or this icon .
- Select Recent, Categories or Saved.
- Select a result to start navigation.
Put your car in park (P). With Android Auto on your car screen, you won't be able to type in your destination until you do so.
- Open Google Maps or your favourite navigation app.
- You can select Home or Work if you have those addresses in your Contacts. Or to open the keyboard on the car screen or your mobile device, select search .
- Enter your destination. Some examples of things that you can type are:
- Union Square, San Francisco
- Philz Coffee
- 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA
- If multiple locations come up, confirm the one that you want and follow the directions to your destination.
While you navigate with Google Maps, you will see colour-coded traffic conditions on highways and roads where information is available. To turn traffic information on and off, follow these steps:
- Tap Settings .
- Tap Traffic.
- To turn traffic information on, tap the toggle to change it from off to on.
- To turn traffic information off, tap the toggle to change it from on to off.
