Fix problems playing videos or games

If you can’t play your purchased content or games on your Android TV, here are some steps you can try.
Check your Wi-Fi connection
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Device," select Wi-Fi Wi-Fi.
  3. Select a network.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Open one of your apps.
  6. Play your content or game again.
Make sure your system is up to date
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Select About and then System software update and then Software update.
  3. Install any available updates.
  4. Play your content or game again.
Restart your device
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Select About and then Restart.
  3. Once the system restarts, play your content or game again.
Check which account you’re using
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Accounts," check which account is signed in to your Android TV.

Sync your account
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Under "Accounts," select your Google Account.
  3. At the top, select Sync now.
  4. Play your content or game again.
Clear your app data & cache
  1. On your Android TV Home screen, go to Settings Settings.
  2. Select Apps.
  3. Under "System apps," select the app and then Clear data and then Clear cache.
  4. Play your content or game again.
Check if your game is compatible
Some games aren’t compatible with Android TV. Here’s how to check:
  1. On your computer, go to Google Play.
  2. Find the game you want to play.
  3. Click Install or Installed.
  4. Under "Choose a device," look for your Android TV device. If it’s dimmed, the game isn’t compatible.
