If you say “Hey Google” near two or more devices, such as your Google Nest or Home device and your Pixel Tablet or phone, multiple devices might turn on. Only one of the devices should respond.
Google selects the best device to respond to based on various factors, such as:
- Proximity of the device
- Type of request
- Capabilities of the device
Step 1: Update your Google app version
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Google app .
- At the top left of the Home screen, tap Settings .
- Tap About.
- At the bottom of your screen, check the app version number.
- If your version is below 20.3, go to the Google app page in the App Store.
- Tap Update.
Step 2: Add the same account to both devices
If you have multiple Google Accounts, add the account you used to set up Google Home to your phone.
Step 1: Check which account you use on Google Home- On your Assistant-enabled device, open the Google Home app .
- Touch and hold the screen on your device.
- At the top right, tap Device settings Recognition & sharing Linked account(s).
- Check the Google Accounts linked to this specific device.
- On your device, open the Google Home app .
- At the top, tap your Profile picture or initial.
- Tap Add another account.
- To add your account, follow the steps.
- After you add the account, you don’t need to stay signed in.
