Smart Throttling is an AI-driven feature to optimize your bidding efficiency. It prioritizes the bid requests you're most likely to act on, ensuring you get the most relevant bid requests.
When your endpoint reaches its configured Queries Per Second (QPS) limit, Smart Throttling uses machine learning to predict which bid requests match your pretargeting configurations you are most likely to bid on.
This prediction is based on your historical bidding behavior and relevant ad request details, including:
- Inventory characteristics (e.g. URL, format)
- User characteristics (e.g. device type, location)
- Deal presence
- Other characteristics.
Using these predictions, Smart Throttling intelligently filters out bid requests with a lower predicted bid likelihood. This ensures that the bid requests sent to you are those most likely to result in a bid, optimizing the utilization of your QPS capacity.
Smart Throttling is applied automatically when your endpoint QPS reaches its limit. If you prefer not to use Smart Throttling, simply ensure that you have sufficient QPS capacity allocated to your endpoint configurations.
