To add or update the content and cover files for a book:
- Sign in to your Partner Center account.
- Go to the Book Catalog.
- Click the book's title Content.
How to upload ebook content
For Ebooks, you can upload one or more files for one book or multiple books in the Partner Center.
One file for a single ebook
To update content, cover images, or upload a new file to the existing book listing:
- In the book’s settings, go to the “Content” tab.
- Click Upload a file.
Each file should be less than 2 GB.
Multiple files for a single ebook
To upload multiple files for a single book:
- In the book’s detail page, go to the “Content” tab.
- Make sure that your files follow the naming requirements.
- Upload and submit all the files at the same time.
- If you don't submit all the required files at the same time, the files are listed under "Pending Content" on the book's Content tab.
- The content or cover doesn't process until you submit all the expected files. For instance:
- ISBN_frontcover.pdf stays listed under "Pending Content" until you upload ISBN_interior.pdf.
When you update a book with multiple files:
- For multi-part .pdfs, like ISBN_1of2.pdf and ISBN_2of2.pdf:
- Submit all the files again, even if not all of them are getting updated.
- For a .pdf file without the cover, like ISBN_interior.pdf and ISBN_frontcover.jpg:
- Submit again the content (ISBN_interior.pdf) to trigger the process for the most recent set of files.
- Alternatively, if you update the cover image with a .pdf file and don't change any other files, name the file as ISBN_frontcoveronly.pdf.
Multiple files for multiple ebooks
To upload multiple files for multiple ebooks:
- Go to the Book Catalog.
- Select Advanced options Upload content files (PDF, JPG…).
- Choose a format.
- Select "ebook".
Each updated filename must have either:
- The same filename as its original file, or
- The identifier as a prefix
If you use a filename that doesn't meet these requirements, you get a new book listing in your Book Catalog.
Ebook display types
- Flowing:
.epub
files. - Fixed:
.pdf
files. - Cover: Cover image files are displayed in a separate list, under "Cover Files."
How to upload audiobook content
One or multiple files for a single audiobook
To upload an audiobook content file:
- In the book’s detail page, go to the “Content” tab.
- Select “Upload audio file.”
- You can select a single file or multiple content files for the audiobook. Learn more about file requirements.
- Drag-and-drop to files to reorder if needed.
- Each file will be displayed with the option to write a chapter name. Naming one chapter will require you to name all chapters. If you choose to not name the chapter, chapter names will be automatically generated.
To upload a new version, which replaces the current version:
- In the book’s detail page, go to the “Content” tab.
- You can select “Copy to new draft” or “New blank draft.”
- “Copy to new draft” will copy the old files to a new version to edit table of contents and chapter ordering.
- “New blank draft” won’t carry over any of the existing files or changes.
Multiple files for multiple audiobooks
To upload multiple files for multiple audiobooks:
- Go to the Book Catalog.
- Select Advanced options Upload content files (PDF, JPG…).
- Choose a format.
- Select "Audiobook".
Each updated filename must:
- Have the same filename as its original file, or the book identifier as a prefix like ISBN or GGKEY.
- Follow audiobook filename guidelines to avoid 24 hour processing delays.
If you use a filename that doesn't meet these requirements, you get a new book listing in your Book Catalog.
Upload & update files
Tips:
- You can’t delete a file. You can upload a new file to replace the previous one.
- Users who downloaded the old version must re-download the book to get the new version. Learn how to fix book loading issues.

File status & history
To check the status of your files:
- In the Play Books Partner Center, click Book Catalog.
- Click on a book’s title.
- In the book’s detail page, go to the Content tab.
- File status is shown for each file name underneath “Status” heading.
Ebooks:
Files may appear in your upload history under a different filename than the one you used.
Pending Content | Files are listed here if they haven't been successfully processed yet. This content includes files currently undergoing processing and files with errors. Check the "Issues" column for the details. |

Processed Content | The most recent successfully processed version of each display type is listed here. The version that will be available on Google Books and on Google Play, depending on your settings. |
Cover Files | Processed cover image files are listed here. |

You can find all versions and status of your audiobook content in the drop down provided.
