Set a screen lock on your profile for Google apps and services built into your car

You can use Google apps and services in some car models, like Polestar 2 and Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric. To keep your profile and Google Account private, set a screen lock in your car. Each time you want to access your profile, you must enter the personal identification number (PIN) or pattern that you set.

You can drive your car when a screen lock is set and the screen is locked, but you can't access your profile or Google Account information until you enter your PIN or pattern.

Important: Settings vary by car manufacturer. For more information, reference your owner's manual.

Set or change a screen lock

  1. On your car display, open your profile settings.
  2. Tap Screen lock.
  3. Choose None, PIN or Pattern.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to set or change your screen lock.
