If you don’t get all or some of your Calendar notifications, try these tips to fix the problem.
Locate missing notifications in Google Calendar
Make sure Desktop notifications are on
To check your Calendar notification settings:
- On your computer, open Google Calendar.
- At the top right, click Settings Settings.
- On the left sidebar, under “General,” click Notification settings.
- Click the notifications dropdown and confirm that Desktop notifications are on.
Find missing notifications for a specific event
To verify that an event has notifications, take these steps:
- Open Google Calendar.
- Click the event Edit event .
- Check if there are notifications next to Notifications .

Find missing event notifications on a calendar
To verify that the calendar has event notifications, take these steps:
- Open Google Calendar.
- Click Settings .
- Select Settings.
- On the left sidebar, under “Settings for my calendars,” click the calendar.
- Under “Event notifications” or “All-day event notifications,” check for notifications.
Fix missing notifications in your browser settings
Confirm that Calendar has permission to show notifications
In Chrome:
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click Menu Settings.
- Under “Privacy and security,” click Site Settings Notifications.
- Under “Allowed to send notifications,” confirm that calendar.google.com is listed.
- If calendar.google.com isn’t listed:
- Under “Allowed to send notifications,” click Add.
- Enter calendar.google.com.
- Click Add.
In other browsers:
- Go to your browser’s notification preferences.
- Confirm that calendar.google.com has permissions for notifications.
- If it doesn’t, add permissions.

Use Chrome notifications
Important: If your device runs on ChromeOS, you don’t have to enable Chrome notifications.
- In the address bar, type chrome://flags/#enable-system-notifications.
- Press Enter.
- From the “Enable system notifications” dropdown, select Disable.
- Click Relaunch.
Check your OS settings
Verify your browser has permission to display notifications
Most operating systems, such as Mac OS or Windows, allow notifications. To confirm your browser has permission to display notifications, take these steps:
- Open your operating system settings or system preferences.
- Click Notifications.
- Confirm that the operating system allows the browser to show notifications.
Important: To display notifications, open Google Calendar.
Find missing notifications in full screen in Windows 10
Notifications may stack on top of each other in:
- Mac OS
- Linux, based on the desktop environment
If notifications are stacked, only the top one displays.
On Windows 10, notifications may not be delivered when you:
- Are in full-screen mode
- Share the screen
- Play a game
To turn on notifications in these situations:
- Open Windows Settings.
- Select Focus Assist.
- Confirm the status of the options.
- Notifications aren’t delivered for options that are turned on.
Find notifications that go missing without interaction in Windows 10
On Windows 10, if there’s no interaction, notifications may be stored after a period of inactivity. You can find notifications in the Action Center.
Check notifications in the Mac OS Notification Center
On Mac OS, notifications may be hidden on your screen but found in the Notification Center. If there are no notifications in the Notification Center, you may need to restart it in System Preferences.

Notifications in the Notification Center should now display. If you still can’t find your notifications:
- Open a Terminal.

- Enter killall NotificationCenter.
Find missing notifications for a monitor or projector on a Mac
By default, Mac OS doesn’t allow notifications when mirroring the screen or sharing the display. To allow them, take these steps:
- Open System Preferences.
- Click Notifications & Focus.
- At the bottom, select When mirroring or sharing the display.
Turn notification sounds on or off
To play notification sounds, Google Calendar needs browser permission.
In Chrome
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click Menu Settings.
- Click Privacy and security Site Settings.
- In the Content section, click Additional content settings Sound.
- If calendar.google.com isn't listed under “Allowed to play sound” click Add.
- Enter calendar.google.com.
- Click Add.
In other browsers
- Go to your browser’s Sound or Autoplay preferences.
- Give permissions to calendar.google.com.
