To review how you spend your time, you can assign color labels to your calendar entries and track them in Time Insights. Learn more about Time Insights.
Important: The color labels you assign to your events are only visible to you and anyone with "Make changes and manage sharing" and "Make changes to events" access to your calendar.
What you need to view color labels in Time Insights
- A computer
- Google Calendar on a work or school account
- Permission to “manage sharing” access on other people’s calendars. Learn how to share your calendar with someone else.
Tip: If you don't have the Time Insights option, your admin may have turned it off for your organization. Learn more about “Who is my administrator?”
Create & assign a color label
From the Time Insights panel:
- On your computer, open Google Calendar.
- On the left, click More insights .
- Tip: You may have to open the Menu .
- On the right, next to “Time breakdown,” click Edit .
- Tip: You can also add or edit color labels below the Time breakdown chart.
- In the “Your color labels” popup, you can:
- Create a new color label: At the bottom left, click Add a new color label .
- Assign a label to existing meetings: In the field that says “Add a label,” enter your label name.
- Exclude certain events: Next to your preferred label, click Hide in Time Insights .
- Click Save.
For a specific event entry:
- On your computer, open Google Calendar.
- Open an event invitation.
- Click Edit .
- Next to the calendar name, select the current calendar color.
- Create a new color label or add an existing color label.
- Click Save.
Tip: You can also right-click an event invitation to create or assign a color label.
