To share a link to an event with other people, find responses in the calendar invite.
Learn how shared events work
Important: To prevent unwanted guests from joining your event, only share the link with the people you trust.
- Anyone with the link to an event can:
- Open the event details and add themselves or others as a guest. This is for public and private events.
- Even when the “Guests can invite others” permission is off, people can still add themselves and others as guests through the shared link.
- Find the full guest list.
- Share the link with others.

- If unknown guests join your event, you can:
- Remove unknown guests from the event.
- Duplicate the event on your calendar with the intended guests.
- Delete the original event.
Share an event
Important: To share an event, you must sign in to Calendar with a personal Google Account.
You can share any future event from your primary calendar with others where you're the organizer:
- On your calendar, open an event.
- Tap Invite via link.
- To share the link, copy it.
- Example: You can share the link using a messaging app.

- Respond to the event
- Guests signed in to their Google Account can respond with one tap. Otherwise, they must fill in their email to respond.
Fix issues with event sharing
Important: To share the event, the guest permissions need to be set up correctly:
- On your calendar, open an event.
- At the top right, tap Edit event .
- Under “Guests can:"
- Turn off Modify event.
- Turn on See guest list.
- On your calendar, select an event.
- In the event window, tap Edit event .
- Check your settings. You can’t create a link if:
- You’re not signed into a personal Google account.
- The event is over.
- The event isn't on your primary calendar.
- The event isn't a regular event.
- Example: A holiday, birthday, or an event not created by you.
- You're not the organizer.
- The event may be in the past.
- The link expired after 90 days.
- The event is deleted by the organizer.
- The organizer has updated guest permissions after sharing the event link.
Tip: If the event was transferred, ask the new owner to generate a new link for the event.
Check the event’s settings:
- If the event recurs: Generate a new link for every instance of the event.
Fix issues with finding shared events
Important: When you first add yourself as a guest to an event, you receive an event invitation email. You can update your RSVP in the email or on your calendar.
If you can’t find an invitation to a shared event:
- Check your spam.
- Check your Gmail inbox for the event invitation. If you haven’t interacted with the organizer via email before, you may get a banner “Unknown sender: Not added to Calendar yet.”
- To add the event to your calendar, confirm that you know the sender. Learn how to respond to event invitations.

Edit guest list access
Important: If the “See guest list” permission is on, you can share the link. This is the default setting.
When you turn off the “See guest list” permission:
- The event page link won’t work.
- Invited guests won’t see other guests on the invite.
- On your iPhone or iPad, open the Calendar app .
- Tap an event Edit event .
- Turn off See guest list.
- Tap Save.
Fix issues when guests can't add themselves
Important: Through the event link, you can invite up to 200 guests to an event.
If guests can access the event page but can’t invite themselves, make sure there aren’t too many guests. You can:
- Remove extra guests.
- Remove any groups and send the link to individual members.
