Tagging issues in Campaign Manager 360

Campaign Manager 360 automatically detects tag implementation errors such as incorrect formatting. The issues can be anything from a repeated key-value to a missing random number or an incorrect landing page.

How does it work?

There are four types of trafficking issues that Campaign Manager 360 can help you detect. The Campaign Manager 360 Trafficking page shows alerts for issues related to an invalid tag type, an invalid third-party click string, and/or no valid creatives. The alerts are updated daily and display information for the previous day.

Campaign Manager 360 will display issues related to tag verification until we can verify that the publisher has made changes to the tag. This means that you may still see issues displayed after you've resent tags to the publisher.

Trafficking issues

Serving problems

Tags with serving problems may not serve the intended creative or render correctly.

Problem Explanation Action
Missing size The size key-value pair (sz=) is missing from the ad tag. This can prevent ads from rendering correctly. Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag. More info
Invalid tag type The ad tag does not contain a proper tag type (ad/adi/adj); this will cause a serving error. More info on tag types Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag. More info
Unresolvable inventory This tag can’t locate corresponding inventory details in Campaign Manager 360 . This can happen, for example, if some key-value pairs are not correct. Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag. More info
No creatives to serve We couldn't find an active and valid creative to serve for this placement. Make sure there is an active default ad with an active creative assigned to the placement.
Missing required parameters The dc_trk_aid and dc_trk_cid key-values or other required parameters are missing in the tracking tag. Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag.
Malicious landing page Google has detected potential security issues with the site of the landing page.

You must use the Google Search Console to identify the underlying issues. More info on how to use the search console. CM360 customer support does not have access to this information, as it is restricted to the site owner.

Reporting problems

Tags with reporting problems may not be counted correctly. This may lead to discrepancies between Campaign Manager 360 and other reporting systems, such as the publisher’s reporting.

Problem Explanation Action
Missing ord The ord key-value pair (ord=) is missing from the ad tag. This means your ad may be cached, which can result in Campaign Manager 360 undercounting impressions. The publisher needs to update the ad tag and make sure the ord key-value pair contains a random value. More info
Invalid ord The value of ord key-value pair (ord=) either contains invalid characters ([]{}:%/\=), or does not contain a random value of at least 8 characters. This means your ad may be cached, which can result in Campaign Manager 360 undercounting impressions. The publisher needs to update the ad tag and make sure the ord key-value pair contains a valid random value. More info

Publisher problems

Tags with publisher problems may not be clickable. Or a tag may be clickable, but can't be tracked on the publisher side, such as when there’s an empty third-party click string.

Problem Explanation Action
Empty third-party click string The click= key-value pair is empty in the ad tag. The click= key-value pair is used to allow a third party to track clicks. Its absence means that Campaign Manager 360 is tracking clicks, but the third party is not. Have the third party verify the third party click string (click=) is currently implemented in the tag and have the publisher re-implement the tag if needed.
Invalid third-party click string Campaign Manager 360 cannot read the value for the click= key-value pair in the ad tag. The click= key-value pair is used to allow a third party to track clicks. An invalid click-string means the user won’t be redirected to the correct landing page, the third party is not tracking clicks, and Campaign Manager 360 may not be counting clicks. Have the third party verify that the third party click string (click=) is properly implemented in the tag and have the publisher re-implement the tag if needed.

Warnings

Tags with warnings have unclear instructions for the ad server, but may render correctly.

Problem Explanation Action
Duplicate key-value There are duplicate key-value pairs in the ad tag; this can affect serving and reporting. Remove the key-values that are duplicates.
Invalid key-value The tag contains an invalid key-value. This means that either the publisher or Campaign Manager 360 may not track information correctly. Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag. More info
Empty key-value We noticed that the ad tag contains an empty key-value. This means that either the publisher or Campaign Manager 360 may not track information correctly. Export the tag again from Campaign Manager 360 and have the publisher re-implement the tag. More info
