Take VR photos with Cardboard Camera

You can take pictures to see in virtual reality or share later. You can take VR photos with or without sound.

Take photos with Cardboard Camera

  1. On your Android phone, open the Cardboard Camera app ​Cardboard Camera.
  2. In the bottom right, tap Take picture Take picture.
  3. Tap Record Record.
  4. With your arms outstretched, move your device slowly in a circle to the left or right.
  5. The camera stops recording automatically once you complete a full 360-degree turn. To finish before then, tap Done Done.

Mute sound in VR photos

Sound automatically records with your picture. You can also take VR photos that are silent.

Take a VR photo without sound

  1. On your Android phone, open the Cardboard Camera app Cardboard Camera.
  2. In the bottom right, tap Take picture Take picture.
  3. At the bottom, tap Record Record.
  4. Tap the sound bar in the bottom right.

Note: If you don't hear sound with your Cardboard viewer, turn up your phone’s volume.

Turn off sound recording in VR photos

You can set up Cardboard Camera so that it never includes sound when you take VR photos.

  1. On your Android phone, open the Cardboard Camera app Cardboard Camera.
  2. On the top left, tap Menu Menu and then Settings.
  3. Turn off Record sound.
