To add or remove multiple members in bulk to a space, use the Bulk Member Manager app for Google Chat. With the app, you can:
- Copy and paste email addresses.
- Add a comma-separated values (.csv) file (computer only).
Before you begin
- To use the Bulk Member Manager app, you must be:
- A space manager
- A space member who has permission to manage members
- You need permission from your Google Workspace administrator to install apps.
- You need to add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
Set up the Bulk Member Manager app in Chat
Important: You can only use email addresses to manage memberships on the mobile app.
- Open the Chat app or Gmail app .
- Search for the space.
- At the top, tap the space name Manage apps.
- Tap Add apps .
- In the search bar, enter “Bulk Member Manager.”
- Tap the app Done.
- To update memberships, use email addresses:
- In the reply area, enter a slash command.
- To add members, enter
/addDialog
. - To remove members, enter
/removeDialog
.
- To add members, enter
- Tap Send .
- Copy and paste the list of email addresses.
- Use commas to separate email addresses in the list.
- Tap Send request.
- In the reply area, enter a slash command.
