Get started with Bitbucket app for Google Chat

Use the Bitbucket app in Chat to:

• Receive messages when events occur in Bitbucket.
• Perform quick actions, such as to view and approve pull requests.
• View and reply to comments on your pull requests.

Learn what you need before you begin

• Permission from your Google Workspace administrator to install apps.
• Add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
• Use your Bitbucket administrator privileges to install the Bitbucket for Google Chat plugin in the Bitbucket workspace from the Bitbucket Marketplace.
  • Once an administrator installs the app, all users with access to the workspace can add the Bitbucket for Google Chat and work with that workspace.

Set up the Bitbucket app in Chat

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. Select an option:
   • Open a direct message with the app.
   • Go to a space with the app.
3. Tap Connect.
   • The configuration window opens.
4. Enter the Bitbucket workspace URL.
   • Example URL: https://bitbucket.org/workspace-name/workspace/overview
5. Tap Next Step.
   • If the required plugin is already installed, go to step 6.
   • Otherwise, follow the instructions on the page to install the plugin, then Tap Run App.
6. Tap Connect Configure Access.
7. To provide the app access to your Google and Bitbucket accounts, follow the steps during setup.
   • If successful, you should receive a message that the app is now connected to your chosen Bitbucket account.

Manage repository notifications

Change workspace

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. Select an option:
   • Open a direct message with the app.
   • Go to a space with the app.
3. Tap Settings.
   • Alternatively, enter /bitbucket_settings.
4. At the top right, tap Change.
5. Select a workspace.
6. Tap Change workspace.

Add notification for a repository

Add the repositories that you want to receive notifications for.

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. Select an option:
   • Open a direct message with the app.
   • Go to a space with the app.
3. Tap Settings.
   • Alternatively, enter /bitbucket_settings.
4. At the bottom right, tap Add repository.
5. Choose a repository from the list.
6. Tap Select.
7. Select an option:
   • Check the boxes that you want to receive notifications for.
   • Check Select all.

Change app settings

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. Select an option:
   • Open a direct message with the app.
   • Go to a space with the app.
3. Enter /bitbucket_settings.
4. Update your settings.
5. Tap Save.

Uninstall the Bitbucket app

Important: If you uninstall the app from a space, the Bitbucket workspace is removed from the space and all the notifications you set up are lost. However, your login information remains.

1. On your iPhone or iPad, open the Chat app or Gmail app .
2. Select an option:
   • Open a direct message with the app.
   • Go to a space with the app.
3. At the top, tap the Down arrow .
4. Select an option:
   • For Chat: Tap Uninstall.
   • For Spaces: Tap Apps & integrations More Remove from space.
