Use the Asana app in Chat to get notifications about updates to Asana tasks.
Before you begin
- You need permission from your Google Workspace administrator to install apps.
- You need to add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
- You need an Asana account.
Set up the Asana app in Chat
- Open the Chat app .
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Tap Sign Into Asanasign in to your Asana account.
The configuration window opens. - Under Choose Workspace, tap the Down arrow and select the Asana workspace to use.
- Under Choose Project, tap the Down arrow and select the Asana project to get notifications for.
- Under Thread messages by, select:
- No threads
- Threaded by project
- Threaded by task
- Check the boxes for the items you want to get notifications about in Chat.
- Tap Save.
- (Optional) To add another project, tap Add.
Change app settings
- Open the Chat app .
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Enter settings. In spaces, enter @Asana settings.
The current settings for the app appear. - Tap Edit Settings.
The settings page opens. - Tap Edit change the settings as needed.
- Tap Save.
Removing the app from a space deletes the app settings.
Using the app in spaces
To use the app in spaces, you need to explicitly @mention the app in each message to the app (including in replies to messages from the app). The @mention confirms you're sending the message to the app and not to others in the space.
