Use the Zendesk app in Chat to get notifications when issues occur in Zendesk.
Before you begin
- You need permission from your Google Workspace administrator to install apps.
- You need to add the app to Chat. Learn how to find apps and add them to Chat.
- You need a Zendesk account with admin privileges.
Set up the Zendesk app in Chat
You need to set up notifications in each space where you add the app. The app sends notifications to all spaces where it's a member.
- Open the Chat app .
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Tap Sign in to your Zendesk account to open the configuration window.
- Enter your Zendesk subdomaintap Next.
- Enter your Zendesk username and passwordtap Sign in.
- Under Choose Group, tap the Down arrow and then the Zendesk group to get notifications for.
- Under Priority greater than or equal to, tap the Down arrow and then the priority level that you want notifications for.
- Under Thread messages by, tap the Down arrow and choose a threading option.
- Check the boxes next to the items that you want to get notifications about in Chat.
- Tap Save.
Change app settings
You can access the Zendesk app settings in a direct message with the app or in a space that has the app added. In spaces, only the person who added the app can change the settings. Removing the app from a space deletes the app's settings.
- Open the Chat app .
- Open a direct message with the app or go to a space with the app.
- Choose an option to find the settings for the app:
- In a direct message with the Zendesk app, enter settings.
- In a space, go to a message and enter @Zendesk settings.
- Tap Edit Settings.
- Tap Edit and change the settings as needed.
- Tap Save.
Using the app in spaces
To use the app in spaces, you need to explicitly @mention the app in each message to the app (including in replies to messages from the app). The @mention confirms you're sending the message to the app and not to others in the space.
