Set custom wallpapers for users and ChromeOS devices

For administrators who manage Chrome policies from the Google Admin console.

As an admin, you can use the Google Admin console to set custom wallpapers for managed users and ChromeOS devices on the sign-in screen. You can choose to display logos, artwork, announcements, or even lunch menus.

When you set a custom wallpaper, users see your image every time they start their ChromeOS device and whenever they return to the desktop. They cannot set their own wallpaper or choose from any of the wallpaper options built into ChromeOS.

You can also choose to set different wallpapers for each organizational unit within your organization.

Examples of custom wallpapers

  • Organization logos
  • Student art projects
  • Announcements for upcoming events
  • School calendar
  • Organization’s Code of Conduct
  • This week’s cafeteria menu
  • Celebration of holidays or themes

Considerations

  • Files must be .jpg and less than 16MB.
  • The image resolution should match or exceed the highest resolution displays.
  • Design for all display ratios from 16:9 to 3:2.
  • Design for visual accessibility.
