As an administrator, you can publish Chrome as a virtual application so that users in your organization can use Chrome on any device.
To use Chrome on Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (previously XenApp and XenDesktop), you'll need:
- Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops
- Microsoft Windows Server
With Chrome 58 and later, Chrome automatically detects if it’s running in a remote desktop environment and adjusts its settings accordingly. If you’re using Chrome 57 or earlier, first you must change the Chrome settings in the Citrix AppCenter Console.
Disable Citrix API hooks for Chrome
If you have Citrix XenApp 6.5, you’ll need to disable the Citrix API hooks for Chrome.
- Open Registry Editor.
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Citrix\CtxHook.
- Change the value of registry key ExcludedImageNames to
chrome.exe,nacl64.exe.
Note: If registry key ExcludedImageNames doesn’t already exist, you’ll need to create it.
Providing support
When users need support, in most cases a virtualized version of Chrome is sufficient. However, users might have complex environments or issues that are hard to replicate. For Google to easily provide support, make sure any issues are reproducible on a non-virtualized version of Chrome.
