Test Chrome apps and sites across platforms

If you're developing a web site, you can use your Chrome Browser to test how your site will appear on different browsers and mobile or desktop devices. Install Chrome's User-Agent Switcher extension, which spoofs and mimics user-agent strings.

Install the User-Agent Switcher extension

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Search for User-Agent Switcher for Chrome.
  3. Click Add to Chrome
  4. In the popup, click Add extension.

That’s it! You’re all set to use the extension.

Use the extension

To test your site for a particular browser, version, or device:

  1. At the top right of your Chrome Browser,, clickChrome UA Spoofer.
  2. Select the user agent you want to access a webpage as.

Running this extension can impact your browser's performance as it need to intercept and modify the data communicated to the server.

This extension doesn't provide improved privacy while browsing the Internet.

Some sites might have other means to figure out that the browser is not what it pretends to be.

Platforms you can test

Using this tool, you can spoof the following browsers or mobile devices:

  • Chrome
  • Internet Explorer
  • iOS
  • Android
  • Windows Phone
  • Firefox
  • Opera
  • Safari
  • Your custom defined user agent string

Troubleshoot

If you can't switch between user agents, switch the user-agent back to Chrome, and clear your cookies. This should make sites treat your browser normally again.
