To use Chrome in your car, you need:
- To download Chrome from the Play Store. Learn how to download and install Chrome.
- A recent version of Google Chrome. Learn how to update your Google Chrome Browser.
- A compatible car with Google built-in, initially available for Volvo and Polestar. Learn more about how to use Google apps and services built into your car.
Sign in and sync in Chrome
When you sign in to Chrome with your Google Account, you can get your info on all your devices and use additional Chrome features.
You must use a profile lock when you sign in, turn on sync or use autofill. With a profile lock, you can protect your personal data in the car.
Important:
- Chrome in your car with Google built-in only allows one Google Account per profile. To switch accounts, you can sign out and then sign back in on your device.
- If you remove your profile lock, your synced data can get removed from the device.
- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- On the right of the address bar, tap More Settings Turn on sync.
- Choose the account that you want to use.
- Tap Yes, I’m in.
- To set up your profile lock, tap Create a car profile lock.
- Follow prompts from your vehicle manufacturer. You may choose any of the following:
- Use a pattern code
- Use a PIN code
- Use a password
Tip: You can find your profile lock in your device settings. To remove, check with your vehicle manufacturer. Learn more on how to set up a lock on your Android device.
Sign out and turn off sync- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- On the right of the address bar, tap More Settings.
- Tap your name.
- Tap Sign out and turn off sync.
- When you turn off sync and sign out, you're also signed out of other Google services, like Gmail.
- You can sign in again without the need to turn on sync.
To delete synced info from your Google Account:
- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- Go to chrome.google.com/sync.
- Tap Delete data.
Save and autofill addresses, payments or passwords
You can let Chrome fill in forms automatically with saved info, like your addresses or payment info. Additionally, when you enter info in a new form online, Chrome might ask you if you’d like to save it to your Google Account. Learn more on how to fill in forms automatically in Chrome.

Important:
- To sync addresses, payments or passwords, you must:
- Log in with a Google Account
- Create a profile lock
- To retrieve saved addresses, payments or passwords, you must enable sync.
- If you remove your profile lock, your synced data can get removed from the device.
- To save passwords or payments locally, you must set a profile lock.
- On your Android device, open Chrome .
- At the top right of the address bar, tap More Settings.
- Choose from the following:
- Password Manager
- Payment methods
- Addresses and more
- Choose from the following:
Tip: To find or autofill saved information, you may be asked to re-authenticate or use your profile lock.
