You can scan from your Chromebook with most printers and scanners that connect to the Wi-Fi or a wired network. Chromebooks currently don't support Bluetooth scanning. Check if your printer works with your Chromebook.
Connect to the internet
Important: Make sure your Chromebook and scanner are connected to the same network.
- Turn on your scanner.
- Connect your scanner to the network.
- To know how to connect your scanner to a network, read your scanner’s manufacturer's instructions.
- If you haven’t yet, turn on your Chromebook.
- Sign in on your Chromebook.
- Connect your Chromebook to the same network as your scanner.

Scan a document
Important: Make sure your printer can scan.
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom left, select Advanced.
- To open the Scan app, under "Printers and scanners," select Scan.
- Optional: To find the Scan app, open Launcher and at the top, in the search bar, enter

- To find your scanner, under "Scan," at the right, select the down arrow menu.
- Under “More settings,” you can change:
- Your color mode
- Page size
- Resolution
- Scan options

- To start your scan, select Scan.
Tips:
- Scanned files are saved to the location you specified in the "Scan to" option. To find your scanned files, select Show file location.
- You can also scan documents with your Chromebook’s camera.
Fix scanner setup problems
Your scanner won't connect to Wi-Fi
- Turn your scanner or printer off.
- Turn your scanner or printer on.
- Try to connect to Wi-Fi again.
Tip: If your scanner still won’t connect to Wi-Fi, contact your scanner manufacturer.
You set up your scanner, but it won’t scan
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings .
- At the bottom, select Advanced.
- Under "Printing," select Printers.
- Next to the name of your printer, select More Edit.
- Make sure all your printer information is correct.
If all your printer info is correct, try to remove and add your printer again:
- Next to the name of your printer, select More Remove.
- Set up your printer again.
Tip: If you still can't print, you may need to update your printer's firmware. Visit your printer manufacturer's website for more information.
