You can set up a new Chromebook to transfer your Google Account and Wi-Fi info from your Android phone.
What you need
To use Quick Start, you’ll need:
- A Chromebook with ChromeOS M126 or newer. Learn how to update your Chromebook’s operating system.
- An Android device.
- A Google Account.
Tip: Your phone requires a Wi-Fi connection.
Set up your personal account with Quick Start
Important: Make sure your Android phone is nearby, location services are turned on, and you have a Wi-Fi connection.
Step 1: Connect your Chromebook & Android phone
- Turn on your Chromebook.
- From the welcome screen, select Quick setup with Android phone.
- When you receive a “Scan the QR code” notification on your Android phone, select Set up.
- If you don’t receive a “Scan the QR code” notification, open your camera.
- To scan the QR code on the screen of your Chromebook, use your Android phone.
- You’ll be asked to verify your identity.
Tips:
- To transfer your data, it will take about 5 minutes. On your Chromebook and Android phone, check on the instructions while the transfer is in progress.
- If you’re not connected to Wi-Fi, you’ll be prompted to connect to a network.
- If you turn on “ChromeVox” or at least one accessibility feature on your Chromebook, you can pair your phone with a passcode.
Step 2: Set up your Chromebook for personal use
You can set up the Chromebook for personal use or a work account.
- On your Chromebook, from the “Choose your Chromebook’s setup” screen, select For personal use Next.
- After installing the latest update, select Restart.
Tip: The Chromebook will restart and reconnect to your Android phone. If you have multiple accounts, you’ll be asked to confirm your account when it reconnects.
