To help your eyes in dim light, you can change the colours of your Chromebook screen. Red hues are easier to see at night and can help you fall asleep later.
Use ‘Night Light’ to set a custom colour and adjust its schedule. You can also use dark mode to change your Chromebook’s visual theme to a pre-set darker palette.
Change your screen colour yourself at any time
- To open Quick Settings, at the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings .
- In the 'Device' section, select Displays.
- Under 'Night Light', turn on Night Light.
- Under 'Colour temperature', adjust the colour.
Automatically change your screen colour at night
- At the bottom right, select the time.
- Select Settings .
- In the 'Device' section, select Displays.
- Under 'Night Light', turn on Night Light.
- Choose when to change your screen’s colour in the 'Schedule' section:
- Custom time: Enter a start time and end time.
- Sunset to sunrise: Use your current location’s sunset and sunrise times to control Night Light.
- Turn off: To stop night mode from turning on automatically, select Never.
Tip: To turn off Night Light quickly, at the bottom right, select the time Night Light .
Turn on dark mode
- On your desktop, right-click and select Set Wallpaper and style.
- Select Theme.
- To turn on Dark mode, at the bottom, select Dark.
- To change between light mode and dark mode with a timed schedule, select Auto.
