Casting to your TV

Can two people with compatible devices and apps cast to the TV at the same time?

Multiple users can cast to the TV provided they are all using Google Cast-enabled apps and are on the same home network. The only way to prevent others from casting to your TV would be to password protect your home network.

Can I cast while in Chrome incognito mode?

Yes. To cast while in Chrome incognito mode, type chrome://extensions into your browser bar, locate the Cast button, and select ‘Enable in incognito’.

Do I need to disable AP/Client isolation on my router?

Yes. You will need to disable AP isolation, also known as client isolation, on your router. Please refer to your router documentation to learn how to disable AP isolation.

If you do not have access to your router settings, or if you are attempting to connect through a guest, hotel, or public network with AP/client isolation, you will not be able to cast to your Cast-enabled device.

If you are attempting to connect through a Wi-Fi extender, please check your extender settings. You will need to disable AP/client isolation on your Wi-Fi extender to be able to cast to your Cast-enabled device.

Why can't I cast audio from my Chrome browser to my speaker?

Casting from the Chrome browser to your speaker that works with Google Cast is only supported from websites that are Cast-enabled.

Why can't I cast music that is stored locally in my mobile device?

Casting music that is locally stored on your device is not supported at this time. You will need to use a 3rd party application that may be able to help facilitate casting this type of content.

Why won't my stream cast?

Some streams from our partners aren't currently available to cast. Please contact the application's customer support for further information.

Can I cast audio from any app with a Cast button to my Cast-enabled speaker?

Speakers that work with Cast will work with most Cast-enabled music and audio applications. We're releasing supported applications all the time.

How do I name or rename my Cast-enabled speaker?

Please use the audio device manufacturer's application in order to change the name of the device. For additional support, please reference the audio device manual or contact the manufacturer.

How does my Cast-enabled speaker get software updates?

Updates for speakers that work with Cast are rolled out gradually and your device will update automatically. It's important that your audio device is receiving power and connected to Wi-Fi in order to receive the update.
