About filters

If you are a PE, CM or a Google employee with access to the Community Console, you can create filters or use existing filters to narrow down posts you want to focus on. The Filter views section includes existing and created filters. For more on how to create filters, see Create filters

Existing filters are filters that are already available in the Community Console such as:

  • All questions: Posts from all the forums you've selected.
  • My activity: Posts based on your activity.
  • Starred by me: Posts that you've starred.
  • Subscribed by me: Posts that you're currently subscribed to.
  • Unanswered: Posts that have not been answered yet.

You can identify existing filters by the icons in front of it. With existing filters, you can only subscribe to receive email notifications or unsubscribe from receiving them. However, you cannot edit, rename or delete an existing filter.

Created filters are filters that you've created using the filter options. With created filters you can subscribe to receive notifications, edit, rename, or delete an existing filter. A few examples of created filters are:

  • Trending issues: Filter to narrow down posts that are trending currently.
  • Locked: Filter to narrow down posts that are locked.
  • Needs review: Filter to narrow down posts that need review.
  • Read: Filter to narrow down posts that have been marked as read.
  • Gmail: Filter to narrow down posts that belong to the Gmail forum.
