Access your contacts with widgets from your Android device’s home screen

On your Android home screen, install widgets for selected contacts to highlight notifications for:

  • Missed calls
  • Messages
  • Important dates and more

To enable notifications, allow access from one of your home screen contact widgets.

Important: This feature is for Android S and above devices.

Install widgets for a contact

On your Android mobile device:

  1. Go to the App Library.
  2. Touch and hold Contacts app .
  3. Tap Widgets and then Touch and hold individual contact.
  4. Drag to desired placement.
  5. Choose the contact for the widget.

Allow access for notifications

Important:

  • In order to allow notifications, the "Conversations" and "Notifications" boxes must remain checked.
  • Notifications can be enabled via the bell icon. The contact widget must be big enough to display the bell icon. If the bell icon isn't visible, long press the widget and then drag the dots to increase the size of the widget.
  • Contact widget notifications won't be enabled if the contact is from an Android Work Profile. Learn more about Android Work Profiles.

From the contact widget:

  1. Tap Bell  and then Settings.
  2. Turn on "Allow notification access."
  3. Tap Allow.

From your device settings:

  1. Tap Android settings and then Notifications and then Device & app notifications.
  2. Tap Contacts app.
  3. Turn on “Allow notification access.”
  4. Tap Allow.
