Video Player Features

CS First video-based activities have four features (outlined below) that allow watching videos to be tailored to your needs.

To leverage these features, hover over the three-dot-menu in the lower right hand corner. A pop-up window will appear with the four available options. While all four features are helpful, the Picture in Picture feature is especially helpful to use with CS First.

Note that these features may differ between browsers. Visit this help article for browser compatibility with CS First.

Download

Download the video lesson to watch it offline. The video will appear in your downloads folder as a .mp4 file.

Captions

All CS First videos default to having captions on. To turn captions off for a particular video, select this feature.

Playback Speed

The speed of the video can be adjusted in two locations - either under the three-dot-menu or just below the video. Selecting playback speed feature within the three-dot-menu provides you with 5 speed options whereas using the playback speed option below the video provides you with three.

Picture-in-Picture

The picture-in-picture feature opens up the video in the lower right corner of your screen and it can be moved around as you navigate to different tabs, windows, etc. For the purposes of CS First, it allows students to view the video lesson and the Scratch for CS First editor simultaneously, rather than having to toggle between tabs.
