All of the CS First lessons with the integrated instructional content will be updated to reflect a new layout and validation functionality.
About the new format
A new instructional layout and validation functionality are being applied to the following CS First lessons:
- Welcome To CS First - Take a Walk
- Welcome To CS First - Interactive Scene
- Welcome To CS First - Animated Card
- Welcome To CS First - Meet Your Neighbors
- My Google Logo
- Build a Super Hero
- Design Your Name
The new layout for student instruction and validation functionality aims to increase student engagement and learning. Students will continue to move step-by-step through the lesson at their own pace, with scaffolding like hints, highlights, and text-to-speech instructions. Additionally they will be supported with direct instruction to “Read”, “Do”, and “Answer'' certain things. Along with keeping students engaged we believe this format will help teachers differentiate instruction more easily while helping students feel more confident, more successful, and more creative with the projects they make in CS First.
When will the new layout and functionality take effect?
The new functionality and format will begin rolling out to all CS First users August 1st and should be available to all users within 24 hours.
How does the new format affect students working in the original format?
Students who began working on the specified lessons before August 8th will continue to have access to the original layout and functionality through their student dashboard. These lessons will appear in the teacher dash board as: Welcome To CS First - Take a Walk (Deprecated).
For a student to experience the new layout and functionality the specified lessons need to be reassigned to the CS First class via the teacher dashboard. These lessons will appear in the teacher dashboard as: Welcome To CS First - Take a Walk
